Wicked Cool

This book spent six weeks at #1 on the Amazon.com "YA paranormal" list. There's a Kindle version and a nice, glossy paperback available - also available in Europe & the U.K. (that's new!). And you can buy it for your Nook at Barnes & Noble.
Wicked Cool started as an experiment. I had always written historicals, so I plunged into something contemporary. I’d always written in 3d person, so I wrote in 1st person. I’d always written for adults, but along about page three of this book I realized the voice pouring onto the page was that of a teenager.
Lo and behold, I was writing what the industry calls “young adult paranormal.”
And the result was Wicked Cool.
Just for a lark, I entered it into a California state-wide contest for unpublished manuscripts. By the time the results were announced (Wicked Cool took First Place in the Young Adult category), the book had sold to Cerridwen Press, a publisher of e-books. When Cerridwen Press decided to change its brand and offer only romance titles, the publishing rights reverted to me, and I fulfilled a promise I had made to my family and friends to make a print version available. Once I had done that, it was easy to also publish it on Kindle. And the rest, as they say, is history.
